Vector Magnetics WellSpot tools measure and report distance and direction to a target using active electromagnetic and passive magnetic methods.

Location of the target is computed using WellSpot data and borehole surveys. Target drift angle and direction are analyzed and projected ahead.

Drilling well plans to intersect, re-enter, or avoid the target are developed in conjunction
with directional drilling and operating company personnel.

WellSpot and WellSpot RGR Tools operate on a standard 7-conductor wireline, provided by
open hole logging companies. No access to the target well is required. The equipment is
portable and compact for fast and easy transport worldwide. WellSpot MGT Tools operate
off standard single conductor wirelines and require access to the target well.

Some of Vector Magnetics' patented services include:

Used primarily for relief wells, active AC magnetic ranging was invented by Vector Magnetics and has been proven for over 30 years to be the most accurate technique with the greatest range for locating nearby wellbore tubulars.
Building on over 30 years of experience in the Relief Well business using our groundbreaking WellSpot and Gradient tools to locate and drill into a blowing out or damaged target well, WellSpot™ at Bit (WSAB) is the new generation of Relief Well tools built with the express purpose of minimizing rig down-time while continuing to provide the precision guidance necessary for a successful intersect.
Vector Magnetics Passive Magnetic Ranging (PMR) provides real time proximity data for the driller. Utilizing data output from the customer's existing MWD tools, Vector Magnetics PMR software provides distance and direction information without requiring tripping for open hole logs.
The Vector Magnetics Single Wire Guidance (SWG) system uses a standard MWD tool or Vector Magnetics' own tools to measure the distance and direction to another well.  Surface access to the target well is required.
The Vector Magnetics Rotating Magnet Ranging Service uses the rotation of a magnetized bit sub behind the bit in the drilling well to create a time-varying magnetic field that can be detected more than 60 meters away in a second well.
